Russia Proposes No-Fly Zone Over Energy Facilities

Russia’s energy ministry has proposed a no-fly zone over Russia’s energy facilities according to Vedomosti, cited by Reuters, following several Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure this month.

  • Under the plan, only aircrafts deployed to protect the energy facilities, planes by Russian top officials and foreign officials visiting would be allowed to fly with special permission in the designated zone, Vedomosti reported.
  • On Monday, A drone attacked the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl, Russia, the government of the region, Mikhail Yevrayev said via Telegram, cited by Bloomberg.
  • Ukraine has launched several attacks on Russia’s energy infrastructure in recent weeks, including on the Byransk oil depot and the Ust-Luga terminal.
