Russia Ramps Up Diesel Exports To Turkey, Africa In Jan

Russia has increased diesel exports to Mediterranean and African ports in January ahead of the EU’s embargo on Russian oil products on 5 Feb, data from sources and Refinitiv show.

  • Diesel supplies from Russian ports to Turkey totalled around 0.68mn tonnes on 1-25 Jan, against 0.73mn tonnes in whole December, Refinitiv data showed.
  • Russia could supply at least 370,000 tonnes of diesel from its Baltic ports to Morocco this month according to Refinitiv.
  • Russian diesel and gasoil exports to Senegal have risen up to 140,000 tonnes so far this month versus 35,000 tonnes in the previous month.
  • Russia plans to divert its supplies to Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and would rather cut oil production than agree to a price cap, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said in December.
