Russia's Tatneft to Produce Oil in Libya This Year

Russia’s Tatneft plans to start oil production in Libya this year according to it Deputy General Director today.

  • "Preparations for the start are currently underway, with the decision already in place. By the end of the year," Rinat Aflyatunov said.
  • Tatneft said last October it had resumed operations in Libya as the situation in the country normalized.
  • Tatneft worked in Libya under a concessionary agreement from 2005 right until 2014 when hostilities erupted there. The company may be looking to set up a joint venture with National Libyan Corporation.
