Russia to Take Part in June 4 OPEC+ Meeting

- OPEC+ countries plan to discuss the state of the market at their meeting on June 4 and if necessary take new measures to balance the oil market, Interfax report. Russia will take part in the discussion, but it will adhere to previously made decisions, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said on Thursday.
- Russian paramilitary group Wagner said it has begun handing over the city of Bakhmut to regular Russian troops Thursday, WSJ report, a move that marked an end to a bloody offensive that flattened the eastern Ukrainian city in nine months of fighting. With Bakhmut under Russian control, Moscow's forces inside Ukraine are now expected to steel themselves for a long-awaited offensive by Ukrainian forces aimed at taking back occupied land.
- President Vladimir Putin will meet business representatives today while Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov meets Chinese special envoy Li Hui. Bank of Russia Governor Elvira Nabiullina and Finance Minister Anton Siluanov are due to attend a forum on financial stability. There are no major economic releases scheduled today.
