Russian Crude Exports Fell to Six-Month Low

Russia’s seaborne crude flows fell to 3.1mbpd in the latest four-week period, the lowest level in six months, with shipments to Asian customers also falling to the lowest level in six months according to Bloomberg vessel tracking.

  • Crude shipments in the four weeks to 16 July dropped to 3.1mbpd. That is down by 780kbpd from their peak in the 28 days to 14 May.
  • Shipments were 270kbpd below the level in February, the baseline month cited when the Russian government announced an output cut to come into effect in March.
  • Four-week average shipments to Russia’s Asian customers, plus those on vessels showing no final destination, fell to 2.77mbpd in the period to July 16, down from 2.9mbpd in the four weeks to July 9, the lowest level in six months.
