Russian Diesel Shipments from Primorsk Slump

OIL PRODUCTS

Exports of diesel from Russia’s Baltic port of Primorsk have slowed, a potential sign of the supply disruption caused by Russia’s ban on exports of the product.

  • Just three tankers carry around 100k mt of diesel have departed from Primork since Sep. 21, when the ban was implemented.
  • This is equivalent to around 130k b/d, around half the average for the period Sep. 1-20
  • if Primorsk’s slowdown is maintained, or mirrored at other ports, it would lead to a notable supply disruption in an already tight diesel market, according to Bloomberg.
  • The market currently takes the view that the ban will be temporary and only last a few weeks, so disruption would be limited.
