Russian Gas Flows to China to Hit 38 Bcm in 2025: Gazprom

Russian gas exports to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline are set to reach the initial design capacity of 38 bcm in 2025, according to Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller, cited by Platts.

  • Russia’s energy minister Nikolai Shulginov said in September that 2023 exported would hit 22 bcm and rise to 30 bcm in 2024.
  • The Power of Siberia pipeline commenced operations in 2019, supplying 4.1 Bcm in its first full operating year in 2020. It supplied 10 Bcm in 2021 and 15.5 Bcm in 2022.
  • Gazprom is also planning a second route via Mongolia called Power of Siberia 2, which would have a capacity of 50 bcm.
