Russian Gas Production Dips 8.6%

NATURAL GAS

According to preliminary data, Gazprom produced 238.4 billion cubic meters of gas January-June 2022, which is 8.6% (22.4 billion cubic meters) less than last year, the company said.

  • Exports to non-CIS countries amounted to 68.9 billion cubic meters – 31% (31 billion cubic meters) less than in the same period of 2021.
  • Russian pipeline gas supplies to China increased by 63.4% in the first six months of 2022. 4.619 billion cubic meters of gas were delivered to China in 6 months of 2021 meaning for the first 6 months of 2022, pipeline deliveries to China amounted to 7.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
  • Gazprom notes, as of June 29, gas reserves in European underground storage facilities have been replenished by 31.9 billion cubic meters.
  • “Global gas consumption for the first six months of 2022, according to the first preliminary estimate, decreased by 24 billion cubic meters compared to the first half of 2021. And gas consumption in 27 countries of the European Union decreased by 27 billion cubic meters over the same period. Thus, the decline in gas demand in the EU has become a key factor in reducing global consumption,” Gazprom said.
