Russian Gas Transit Through Ukraine at 12.1bcm in Jan-Oct

Russian gas flows to Europe transit through Ukraine totalled 12.1bcm in Jan-Oct, a decline of 32% year on year and 66% versus 2021 according to AGPU.

  • Gazprom delivered 38.3% of contracted volume last month at the Sudzha interconnection point on the Russia-Ukraine border with force majeure in place at the Sokhranivka entry point since May 2022.
  • The five year transit agreement between grid operator GTSOU and Gazprom signed in December 2019 requires payment even if the shipments do not flow. Ukraine has ruled out talks with Russia on a new transit deal following the existing contract expiry in Dec 2024.
  • The contract is for 110mcm/d of Russian gas to Europe in 2023 and 2024.
