Russian Jan-May Gasoline Exports Rose 37% YoY

Russian gasoline exports grew by 37% year on year to 2.5 million tonnes in the January-May period according to Kommersant.

  • This is despite the EU ban on Russian oil products imports that came into effect on 5 February, forcing Russia to reroute its exports.
  • Russian daily gasoline exports in the first six days of June fell to an average 2,800t/d, four times lower than at the end of May according to Kommersant.
  • According to industry sources, Russian gasoline exports in April and May stood at around 200,000t/months, down from between 600,000-700,000tons/month in winter.
  • Energy minister Nikolai Shulginov said Moscow was looking to restricting gasoline exports if such measures were needed, after reports stated Russia was proposing to ban gasoline exports.
