Russian LNG Exports Rise 6.3% y/y Jan-May

Russia's January-May LNG exports increased by 6.3% y/y to 13.6 million metric tons according to LSEG data.

  • Europe pulled in 55% of that total or 7.5mn tons.
  • May exports of 2.7mn tons were flat m/m.
  • The Yamal LNG site in the Arctic - led by Novatek - sent 8.1 million tons of LNG in the first five months of the year, while Sakhalin-2, controlled by Gazprom, exported 4.5 million tons from the Pacific island.
  • The LNG market is waiting to see if the EU 14th sanctions package banning re-loading services by EU facilities for trans-shipment of Russian LNG to third countries due to the heavy reliance on the flows.
