Russian Oil Product Output Down 3.3% in H1: Rosstat

Russian output of petroleum products fell 3.3% on the year in H1 2024, Rosstat data cited by Bloomberg showed.

  • Output in June was down 4.4% on the year and down 5.6% on the month.
  • Diesel production was down 3.1% on the year to 42.7m mt in H1 and down 8.1% on the year to 6.8m mt in June.
  • Heating oil production was down 8.1% to 19m mt in H1 but was up 8.8% on the year to 3.1m mt in June.
  • Rosstat no longer publishes gasoline production figures in line with the Energy Ministry’s ban on releasing the data.
  • Refineries were subject to heavy outages earlier this year amid Ukrainian drone attacks on energy infrastructure and technical maintenance.
  • Russia will reinstate its gasoline export ban in August while Kommersant reported that the Energy Ministry would consider a diesel export ban if prices rose sharply.
