Russian/Pakistan Energy Co-operation Expected to Expand

Russia and Pakistan are actively cooperating in energy sector projects according to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

  • “Negotiations on launching a cooperation project in the oil sector are at their final stage," he said.
  • Pakistan anticipates Russian imports to meet up to 35% of its future oil demands.
  • Earlier, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on twitter "Glad to announce that the first Russian discounted crude oil cargo has arrived in Karachi and will begin oil discharge tomorrow".
  • Reuters reported the cargo was paid for in Chinese Yuan.
