Russian Petroleum Exports Lose Momentum

OIL PRODUCTS

Russian exports of refined oil products are poised to plummet to a 10-month low in August, according to Bloomberg.

  • Refined product flows from Russia fell to 2.3m b/d in the period Aug. 1-26, according to Vortexa data, down 0.25m b/d on July’s export levels.
  • The decline in exports is the result of a drop in oil processing as refiners prepare for planned maintenance.
  • Diesel flows, the top-oil product exported from Russia, dropped to 1.05m b/d for the period Aug. 1-26, the lowest level since May.
  • Russia’s Energy Ministry has advised producers to redirect some diesel and gasoline to the domestic market to maintain supplies.
  • Fuel oil shipments, a third of overall fuel flows from Russia, declined to 603k b/d in over the period Aug-1-26, the lowest since March 2022.
  • The market uses Russian oil shipments to infer crude production as the official figures are not released publicly.
