Russia’s TurkStream Gas Exports to Europe Fall in June: Platts

NATGAS

Russian gas supplies via the TurkStream pipeline to Southeast Europe fell to an average of 37 mcm/d in June after planned maintenance cut flows to zero for five days, Platts said.

  • Total gas deliveries to the Strandzha 2 entry point were 1.1 bcm in June, down from a nine-month high of 1.35 bcm in May.
  • Russia’s Gazprom also continues to export gas to Europe via Ukraine, despite the ongoing war. Deliveries are stable at 42 mcm/d so far in 2024.
  • Austria and Slovakia remain key buyers of Russian gas delivered via Ukraine.
  • The five-year gas transit deal between Russia and Ukraine is due to expire at the end of 2024.
  • Slovakia’s SPP told Platts that it believed it feasible to create a European consortium to take delivery of gas at the Russia-Ukraine border to ensure continued Russian gas supplies beyond 2024.
