RWE Moves Closer to 1.6GW German Offshore Wind Commissioning

German-based developer RWE has inched closer to the completion of its 1.6GW Nordseecluster offshore wind farm in the German North Sea as it has entered into a 660MW turbine supply agreement with Vestas, according to Vestas.

  • Vestas will supply 44 15MW turbines for the first phase of the offshore wind farm – Nordseecluster A – with deliveries set to take place in 2026. The agreement also includes a 5-year service agreement.
  • The firms have also entered into a conditional agreement for the additional 900MW of capacity – 60 15MW turbines - Nordseecluster B.
  • The entire project is expected to start commercial operations in 2027-29.
