IRELAND: Ryan McGrath at Cantors assesses events in Ireland yesterday writing
"While not fatal, the latest twist to the whistle-blower scandal leaves the
government arrangement deeply wounded." He remarks that many now expect an
election in 2018. 
- "Importantly the Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar can now attend the December European
leaders' summit on Brexit without the distraction of a domestic election
campaign". Given that the UK Brexit bill may finally be agreed, the UK will hope
to move onto Stage 2 of negotiations while Ireland will look to ensure that its
request for the Irish border stays in Stage 1.
