SAAM Unit Reaches Murmansk for Yamal Support

LNG

The SAAM floating gas storage unit has reached Murmansk after being towed there from Singapore since February according to ICIS.

  • It will support operations at Russia's Arctic Yamal LNG terminal.
  • Ice-class vessels can carry LNG from Yamal to the SAAM. Normal tankers can then pick the cargoes back up from the SAAM, which can store two cargoes at a time according to ICIS.
  • This allows the ice-class vessels to spend more time in icier waters between Murmansk and Yamal, while normal vessels don't have to go all the way to Yamal.
