SAGBs Bull Flatten as MTBPS Comes Into Focus

SOUTH AFRICA
  • SAGBs open firmer this morning, with the curve gaining bull flattening momentum towards the end of last week as local elections and the FOMC moved off the radar and the MTBPS comes into focus.
  • Last week saw early weakness reversed, with 10-30Y yields falling -24-32bp and with the 10Y outperforming on expectations for an improved fiscal outlook at this week's MTBPS.
  • Focus will be on the permanence of grants policy with the new FinMin under pressure to implement a basic grant – despite his opposition to it.
  • Next supports in 10Y stand at 9.80 & 9.70, and 30Y supports seen at 10.46 & 10.27.
