SAGBs Wilt Following PBoC RRR Tweaks, But Hold Marginal Gains W/W

SOUTH AFRICA
  • SAGBs kick off softer this morning with 10-30y yields up +4.3-6.2bp in early trading.
  • Yesterday’s session saw early gains reversed as China’s PBoC enacted RRR tweaks, which drove ZAR assets weaker.
  • Poor manufacturing data also contributed to weak sentiment, reflecting the impact on extended protest action in the steel/construction industry.
  • 15-30Y yields rose +6-7.5bp on the day, but remain in positive territory w/w with the curve positioned -10-17bp in 3m-10Y yields with the exception of the 2Y (+1.5bp).
  • Next key resistance in 10Y yields stands at 10.00, & 10.80 in the 30Y.
  • SAGB curve wow
