Saharan Dust Weighs on European Solar Output This Week

Solar output in the Europe has been reduced by up to 20% this week due to Saharan dust reducing clear ski irradiance according to Solcast API, cited by PV Magazine.

  • The dust is set to clear by Saturday.
  • The dust affected the Mediterranean first on Wednesday 19 June, after which it moved to southern Germany and Switzerland on Thursday and by Friday, it had moved to north/eastern Germany.
