SECURITY: Efforts Towards Lebanon Ceasefire "Serious And Very Advanced"

SECURITY

Roi Kais at Kann reports on X: "Sky News in Arabic reports from its sources that the proposal of the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament for calm on the northern borders includes de-escalation on the basis of a cease-fire for a period of 4 weeks. It was also reported that Amos Hochstein, the American envoy to the Middle East, is negotiating in order to reach an agreement between Lebanon and Israel."

  • Kais notes, per the Lebanese channel LBC: "The efforts led by Amos Hochstein for a ceasefire on the Lebanese front are serious and very advanced. We may see their results starting tomorrow morning. We'll see how it ages."
  • US President Joe Biden said earlier this afternoon, in an ABC interview: “I think there’s still the opportunity — we’re still in play to have a settlement that can fundamentally change the whole region.” Biden added that he believes the “Arab world very much wants to have a settlement.” Biden conceded however that “an all-out war is possible.”
