Meanwhile, participants are preparing for the much awaited annual gathering of Fed members.

  • JPY leads gains in G10 FX space at typing. The yen has shown no material reaction to marginally mixed Tokyo CPI data.
  • The Antipodeans underperform, with national Cabinets in both Australia and New Zealand set to discuss local Covid-19 outbreaks. Australian Cabinet meeting will debate vaccinating children, while NZ PM Ardern will announce the results of alert level review.
  • The virtual Jackson Hole symposium takes centre stage today, with the address from Fed Chair Powell set to provide most interest. Elsewhere, U.S. personal income/spending & final University of Michigan Survey, Swedish GDP & retail sales are due.
