Seoul Offers To Send COVID Vaccines To North Korea

NORTH KOREA

South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol has offered to send COVID-19 vaccines and other medical supplies to North Korea, according the a statement from the presidential office.

  • The initiative will be discussed with Pyongyang, the Blue House said without providing further details.
  • This comes after North Korea confirmed six deaths from COVID-19 and imposed a nationwide lockdown amid "explosive spread" of fever, which has already affected hundreds of thousands of people.
  • The rapidly spreading outbreak of COVID-19 failed to deter North Korea from conducting another missile test on Thursday, while the U.S. warned that Kim Jong-un's regime could conduct a nuclear drill as soon as this month.
