Seven Greek Coal Power Stations Set to Run Longer than Planned

Greece intends to use seven coal-fired plants for longer than previously planned because of high gas prices according to the chief executive of the Greek gas grid operator DESFA.

  • "In the short term some European countries will have a delay in their decarbonisation (plan), but this could also be an opportunity ... allowing to avoid an intermediate phase towards hydrogen," he said.
  • He also said Greece and Italy were close to agreeing a deal so Greek gas operators could store gas in Italy.
