Shell Reaches Prelude Wage Deal

LNG

Shell has reached a wage deal with staff at it’s Prelude LNG facility that have been on strike since July – which has since stopped cargoes from leaving the 3.6million tonnes per year facility.

  • "Shell is pleased to confirm an in-principle Enterprise Agreement has been reached with the Australian Workers’ Union and Electrical Trades Union in relation to the Prelude FLNG facility," Shell said in a statement.
  • "The process to formally lift the work bans in place under the Protected Industrial Actions is expected to be completed shortly, which will enable the facility to commence the process to prepare for a hydrocarbon restart," it said.
  • The timeline for restarting is not yet clear.
  • Prelude resuming is a welcome sign for the gas markets with demand in the project’s key region of Asia very strong right now.
