Shell has restarted production at the 45k boe/d Penguins field in the UK North Sea, according to the company’s website.

  • The restart comes following the start-up of an FPSO at the field, which is expected to extend the field’s life by 20 years.
  • Penguins had previously exported via the Brent Charlie platform, which ceased production in 2021.
  • The field currently has 100m boe of estimated recoverable reserves.
  • Oil from the field will be transported by tanker to refineries outside the UK.
  • Natural gas from the field will be transported through the existing pipeline to the St Fergus gas terminal.
