Shell's Jackdaw Field Set for Approval

ENERGY

Shell’s North Sea Jackdaw field development is expected to be approved by the British Offshore Petroleum Regulator in the coming days according to Reuters sources.

  • The development was initially rejected on environmental grounds but a push to reduce energy prices and move away from Russian flows have delivered the impetus to renew interest in UK energy assets.
  • The filed is expected to produce around 6.5% of Britain’s gas output by the second half of 2025 and has reserves of between 120-250 million barrels of oil equivalent.
  • Jackdaw will be connected to Shell’s Shearwater gas hub.
