Simsek Says Concerns Over Longevity of New Policy "Misplaced"

  • Finance Minister Simsek says concerns about the longevity of new economic policies are “misplaced” and that the team has "the backing” of President Erdogan.
  • Speaking on a panel at the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh, he said “I think we do have what it takes to regain the trust of the people”, adding that investors will be back.
  • “The new normal is you implement sound policies that generate confidence. These will ultimately lead to portfolio and FDI inflows.”
  • That will lead to “real exchange-rate appreciation which would foster speedier disinflation.”
