Singapore LSFO Flows from the West Slip

Singapore is expected to receive around 1.3 million-1.4 million mt of LSFO from the West in May - down from about 1.8 million mt scheduled for April according to Platts trade sources.

  • The trade is being impacted by the avoidance of the Suez Canal because of Red Sea shipping attacks, making the arbitrage economic largely unviable.
  • Platts had previously reported an expected volumes of 2-2.2 million mt was expected for arrival before the economics changed.
  • The West-East arbitrage window was partially open in the week ended April 26, but it has become unviable again this week, several traders told Platts.
