EU-UK

Shona Murray at Euronews tweets a Brexit thread:

  • "Moreover sources say there is just a "small chance" a deal can be done this week but very likely talks will continue to next week and after the 26th December. Taking a break on 24, 25, 26th."
  • "Both sides bridging gap on LPF? UK moved last week to being open to discussing a system of managed divergence. On state aid/subsidies source says there is close to an agreement on an independent regulator on an ex-post assessment basis. The EU had wanted ex-ante and ex-post."
  • "Fish is still a huge problem Stuck on quota, ownership of trawlers which will impact Spanish, Dutch, Danish, French Negotiation - how often...on which stocks pelagic/ demersal. And: on deal phase-in period...apparently UK wants old policy phased out in time for next UK election"
