SONIA Bull Flattens On Geopolitical Worry

STIR

The combination of the weekend events in Israel and softer than expected German industrial production data (albeit accompanied by positive revisions) leads core global FI higher at the start of the week.

  • That provides support for the SONIA strip, with futures there running 0.5-6.0bp richer through the blues, flattening.
  • Volume remains typically subdued pre-gilt open.
  • Domestic weekend headline flow shouldn’t be particularly market moving, with the Labour Party conference and capital injections for troubled Metro Bank dominating there.
  • BoE’s Mann will provide comments via a panel at the U.S. NABE meeting later today, they will cross at 21:00 BST. The panel will discuss the topic of ‘What have we learned about Inflation Dynamics?’
