SOUTH AFRICA: Ex-President Zuma Faces ANC Disciplinary Hearing

SOUTH AFRICA
  • The African National Congress (ANC) holds a hearing on whether to expel ex-President Jacob Zuma after he backed the newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party and tried to run in the recent general election from its lists, before a court prevented him from doing so due to his earlier prison sentence. • International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola said that South Africa sent a delegation to engage with both Republicans and Democrats and will work with whoever forms the next US administration. • The IMF left South Africa's 2024 growth forecast at +3.2% Y/Y and warned that borrowing costs could stay higher for longer, while urging the country to address fiscal challenges.
