Southbound Swap Connect Should Launch In Due Course

China should consider launching more interconnection mechanisms, such as kicking off the southbound Swap Connect, to allow mainland investors to participate in Hong Kong’s financial derivatives market, said Wang Youxin, a researcher with the Bank of China. Authorities should also expand the scope of the Connect programme, deepen interest- and exchange-rate market-oriented reform and develop a multi-level capital market to meet various investment and financing needs, said Wang.
