S&P Continues Climb As Tech Outperforms Ahead Of Key Earnings

  • The S&P e-mini continues to extend gains, touching a session high of 4607.5 (+0.5%) as it nears resistance despite a grinding higher in real yields.
  • Next resistance is seen at last week’s high of 4609.25 after which lies a bull channel top drawn off the Mar 13 low with an intersection at 4622.12.
  • SPX gains on the day are led by materials (+1.9%), IT (+1.4%) and energy (+1.0%) whilst real estate (-0.4%) and financials (-0.3%) lag. Financials is weighed by banks -0.6% after yesterday’s outperformance, although the separate KBW series shows a distinct split between regionals (+0.7%) and others (-0.5%).
