POWER

Spanish firm Acciona Energia will increase the annual generation of its Tahivilla wind farm in Spain to 84.4MW from 78.4MW as a part of a “repowering” strategy, the firm said today.

  • The old turbines will be dismantled this year, with the new ones installed and operations to restart in 2026.
  • The upgrades will increase the annual generation to 254 GWh/yr from 147 GWh/yr.
  • In 2030, around 20GW of wind farm will be operating for 20-years, with 7.4GW having the potential to be repowered – adding an additional 4-15GW of renewable capacity.
