Spanish Factory Gate Inflation Soars to 35.9%

  • Spanish factory gate inflation continued to soar in December, hitting 35.9% y/y and once again setting new record highs since the data set began in 1976.
  • Core PPI continues to rise, reaching +11.0% y/y in December, up another +0.5% from November's reading and the highest since 1984.
  • Energy was up 95.9% y/y, all but doubling in price compared to December 2020. Inflationary pressures were seen across production, transport and distribution of energy.
  • Intermediate goods also broke records, jumping to +20.6%.
