Steady Trends Outside Of Yen Weakness

Outside of yen weakness, the USD is a little weaker against the other majors in the first part of Monday Asia Pac trade. The BBDXY USD index was last near 1245, close to unchanged versus end NY levels from Friday.

  • Modest USD gains have been seen against the yen, with USD/JPY pushing back into the 155.80/85 region. This is still under Friday session highs near 156.00.
  • In the cross asset space, US yield momentum is down a touch, but losses are less than 1bps at this stage. US equity futures are a touch higher. Regional markets, which are open, sit firmer at this stage.
  • AUD/USD is firmer, but hasn't been able to sustain +0.6700 levels. NZD/USD is unchanged at this stage around 0.6130/35.
  • The data calendar is very light today, with the main focus likely to be on the China LPR outcomes, although no change is expected at this stage.
