FOREX: Sterling has marginally underperformed its G10 peers from the off as high
hopes for a UK-EU Brexit compromise have faded. The U.S./Asia crossover saw a
Telegraph report outlining a new divorce plan to be submitted by UK PM Johnson
to Brussels later today, but the proposals are expected to meet with cold
reception on the EU side and have already faced criticism from Irish ministers.
- The greenback has come under modest pressure as Asia participants have
digested yesterday's disappointing U.S. ISM m'fing print.
- KRW opened on the defensive following the test-launching of two North Korean
missiles, one of which landed within Japan's exclusive economic zone.
- Elsewhere, price action remains limited by the ongoing week-long mkt closure
in China. Trade in Hong Kong reopens today, but India is shut for a holiday.
- On today's calendar are U.S. ADP employment change, UK construction PMI and
comments from ECB's Villeroy, as well as Fed's Williams, Barkin and Harker.
