STIR: Dovish WSJ Fed Article Triggered Fresh Longs In SOFR Front End

  • The rally in the front end came as WSJ Fed watcher Timiraos’ Fed preview reintroduced greater odds of a 50bp cut at the upcoming meeting, although the piece didn’t provide as firm a steer as some of his prior work (more on that here).
  • Net pack swings from the reds to further out were more limited, with only a couple of pockets of notable positioning moves in individual contracts (long cover in SFRM5 and short setting in SFRZ5).
