Stocks Soft, E-mini S&P Lower for Fifth Session

EQUITIES

Equity markets across Europe and the US are lower early Monday, with futures markets pointing to a lower open on Wall Street later today. The e-mini S&P is off around 25 points pre-market, putting the index in the red for the fifth consecutive session.

  • In Europe, losses are uniform, with most indices down around 0.6-0.7%. Tech and consumer discretionary firms are the laggards, with just energy in the green on the continent.
  • Citi's prelim month-end rebalancing estimates point to rebalancing out of equities and into fixed income for the February close.
  • Boeing shares are sharply lower pre-market, with the stock nursing losses of well over 3% on weekend news that their 777 model had been grounded across the US and Asia after a fault saw engine pieces scattered across Colorado.
