Strike Keeping Prelude LNG Shut

No quick resolution is expected to industrial action at Shell’s 3.6mtpa Prelude floating LNG off Western Australia.

  • The unions have extended the strike once more to Sep 1 from its Jun 10 start and production has been suspended at the facility since last month.
  • Shell have delayed maintenance due in September-November to July 2023 at the earliest.
  • Shell has had to buy Asian spot LNG cargoes to meet contractual obligations. Shell expects its Q3-22 LNG output at 6.9m-7.5m tons, down from 7.66mtons Q2 and 8mtons in Q1.
