Strikes Likely to Reduce Finland’s Porvoo Refinery Output

OIL

Planned two-day industrial action by Finland’s industrial workers on 1-2 February is expected to hit output and supply from Neste’s Porvoo refinery, union representative Sami Ryynanen at Neste's Porvoo refinery said, cited by Reuters.

  • "No finished product will come out, petrol, diesel and the others that we make here," Ryynanen said.
  • The strike could affect output for up to a week as production must gradually be reduced ahead of time and then ramped up afterwards, Ryynanen said.
  • Neste plans to reduce activity at the refinery for the duration of the strike, which will halt deliveries by road, rail and sea, a company spokesperson said.
  • The refinery processes around 10mn tons of crude per year.
