Support For Independence Falls Amid SNP Infighting & Vaccine Rollout

Support for Scottish independence has declined from recent highs in the latest Savanta/ComRes opinion poll amid infighting in the pro-independence Scottish National Party and a COVID-19 vaccine rollout that, while better than most other countries worldwide, is lagging behind the other nations of the UK.

  • Scottish Independence Voting Intention: Yes: 53% (-4), No: 47% (+4). Via @SavantaComRes, 4-9 Feb. Changes w/ 8-13 Jan.
  • Holyrood Voting Intention:
    • Constituency: SNP: 54% (+1), CON: 23% (+4), LAB: 16% (-2), LDM: 5% (-1)
    • Regional List: SNP: 43% (-1), CON: 21% (+5), LAB: 18% (=), GRN: 10% (-1), LDM: 6% (-2)

  • Should be noted, though, that even with polls turning in favour of the pro-Union Conservatives, the SNP remain on course to win a majority, or very close to one, in the Scottish parliament elections scheduled for May.
