POWER: Sweden to Increase Volumes for mFRR Mechanism in Feb

POWER

Starting in February 2025, Sweden’s mFRR capacity market will see an increase in procurement volumes across selected hours and areas to enhance grid stability, Svenska Kraftnat said.

  • Upregulation capacity will rise in all bidding areas, particularly on weekends, while downregulation capacity will increase in SE1 and SE2 but decrease slightly in SE4 (see table).
  • This will lead to up to 940MW allocated for upregulation and 1.05GW for downregulation.
  • The mechanism is used to control power supply during periods of high or low consumption and prevent outages.
