Taiwan Dollar Best Performer Again, Swings Into The Close Expected

Yet another day in Asia with the Taiwan dollar as best performer, the story this week has been a late swing in trade which erases the gains through the session, which has capped gains on a 5-day basis to just 0.59, though TWD is still the best performer against the greenback at with this gain.



  • Yesterday Taiwan reported first locally transmitted Covid-19 case since April 12, the government says it has targeted 167 contacts of the new case and will test them all. Taiwan has reported 770 Covid-19 confirmed cases and 7 deaths as of Tuesday
  • Taiwan also plans to cut flights from London by half starting from Dec. 23 due to rising cases locally, but has stopped short of banning travel to and from the country. Arrivals from the UK will need to undergo 14-day centralized quarantine
  • USD/TWD last down 0.210 at 28.135 after spiking from similar levels to 28.346 yesterday.
