AUSSIE: The Aussie is edging lower after a modest miss on the headline AU CPI
metrics, although the underlying CPI measures were largely in line with analyst
estimates, and is unlikely to alter the RBA's steady hand approach. As a
reminder the RBA's view is that "inflation is low & is likely to remain so for
some time," however, its central forecast is "for CPI inflation to be a bit
above 2.0% in 2018."
- AUD/USD downside interest comes in at the 50% retracement of the move from
$0.7360 to $0.7434 ($0.7397).
- AUD/NZD support is noted some way off at the 200-DMA (NZ$1.0859).
- AUD/JPY support is some way off at the July 24 low (Y81.81).
