CHINA YUAN: The China Foreign Exchange Trade System (CFETS) announced that the
official yuan closing price at 16:30 local time (08:30 GMT) on Thursday was
6.4972 against the U.S. dollar, stronger than the official closing of 6.5246 on
Wednesday. Thursday's closing was the strongest since May 3 last year, when it
was 6.4743. The People's Bank of China set the yuan fixing at 6.5269 against the
U.S. dollar on Thursday, stronger than the central parity of 6.5311 on
Wednesday. The PBOC has set the fixing stronger for nine straight trading days,
and Thursday's fixing was the highest since May 18 last year.
