JGBS
JGBS: The JGB 10-Year closed yesterday's Tokyo session at 150.40 and was last at
150.39 after moving higher on the overnight alongside U.S Treasuries to 150.46,
NY opened higher with the assistance if block trades. The JGB 10-Year ebbed 5
ticks on the Tokyo session as Japan August the Core Machinery Orders came in at
their highest level since July 2016.
- Barclays Opening Call: Today could see the market remain largely ranged after
USTs showed little price action overnight. We expect the 30y auction (JX56) to
clear smoothly assuming yields near current levels (WI close on 10 October:
0.88%). Recent yield levels exceed the average at the previous auction (0.832%)
and valuations are cheap on the curve, suggesting the auction is likely to
attract a certain level of investor demand.
- The 10-Year yield was last up 0.9bp and the 30-Year up 0.2bp, spreads are very
tight ahead of the 30-Year auction scheduled for 0445BST/1245JST
