JAPAN: The latest round of weekly international security flow data revealed that
Japanese investors flipped to net selling of foreign bonds (Y155.2bn) after 3
consecutive weeks of net buying, but the 4-week rolling sum still jumped
(Y1168.4bn vs. 267.9bn) as one large week of net selling fell out of the sample.
- Japanese investors were marginal net sellers of foreign equities for a second
consecutive week, but there was little the way of notable movement in terms of
the 4-week rolling sum of the measure.
- Foreigners more than reversed last week's net selling of Japanese bonds,
buying a net Y458.9bn, and bringing a run of 3 consecutive weeks of net selling
to an end. The 4-week rolling sum of the measure moderated as a result, back to
-Y600.5bn from -Y1033.0bn one week ago.
- Finally, foreign investors were net buyers of Japanese equities for an eighth
straight week, although the 4-week rolling sum of the measure moderated.
